  • Sadio Mane and his wife will not have a honeymoon in the coming weeks
  • Mane had initially planned to have one after completing AFCON duty with Senegal
  • The former Bayern Munich man wedded 18-year-old Aisha Tamba on January 7

Sadio Mane and his new wife, Aisha Tamba, have reportedly scrapped their honeymoon plans just a few days after getting married.

Mane has been in the headlines for the better part of the week after he exchanged wedding vows with the 18-year-old Tamba in a lavish ceremony at the Keur Massar region of Dakar, Senegal.

Close relatives and friends attended the ceremony on January 7.

The two are said to have met two years ago, with Mane even taking over the responsibility of putting Tamba through school.

The Liverpool legend had initially planned to go for the honeymoon after he was done with the Africa Cup of Nations in the Ivory Coast.

Why Mane won’t celebrate his honeymoon

One Moussa Ndiaye, Mane’s best friend, told Mail Online that the Senegalese forward wanted to use the short period he will have after AFCON for his honeymoon before returning to Al-Nassr. The plan was supposed to hold whether or not Senegal made it to the February 11 final.

However, Ndiaye revealed that Tamba’s family stepped in and asked her to focus on her studies, given that she has important exams coming up. Tamba attends the Cabis School in the Mbao area in the outskirts of Dakar.

The family argued that she would have many more holidays in the future and needed to prioritise her education first.

Ndiaye also narrated how Mane first saw Tamba in 2020 while still at Liverpool and the 1,000USD he gave as a dowry.

Mane’s wife gets grand reception at school

Tamba had earlier been spotted making a grand return to her school, where she was accorded a hero’s welcome by her schoolmates.

As reported by Sports Brief, the new Mrs Mane was serenaded by her friends as she waved from the balcony a day after getting married to arguably the most famous man in the West African country.
