Multichoice makes U-turn, as SuperSport secures rights to beam AFCON games

SuperSport has announced that they will broadcast all 52 matches of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Ivory Coast 2023 (Afcon) live after MultiChoice secured the rights to broadcast the continent’s showpiece tournament.

According to a statement released by Multichoice, they have reached a commercially viable agreement with rightsholders, New World TV (NWTV), to broadcast the 34th edition of Africa’s premier men’s football competition.

In a statement SuperSport CEO, Rendani Ramovha, said they are delighted to be able to showcase the best of African football live to their viewers.

Last week, Multichoice released a statement saying Supersport will not be able to broadcast the AFCON a move which did not please many football enthusiasts.

The continent’s showpiece will kick off on Saturday, 13 January 2024.
