West Ham United’s Mohammed Kudus has emphasized his unwavering commitment to representing his country in football competitions, particularly expressing eagerness for his Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) debut in Cote D’Ivoire.
The talented player, who missed the last edition in Cameroon due to injury, is determined to make a significant impact on the continental stage.
In an interview with ghanafa.org, Kudus highlighted the profound significance of playing for the national team, describing it as a tremendous privilege and responsibility.
Despite the challenges and changes in club affiliations that professional players often face, Kudus stressed that national team duties remain a constant and special commitment.
“As a professional player, you’re going to change clubs, it’s very likely that you’re going to play for a lot of teams, but your country and your national team remain the same. So for me to be part of the squad in a country of 30 million is a huge privilege that comes with a lot of responsibilities, so I don’t joke with national team football,” Kudus stated.
Acknowledging the pressure and expectations that come with representing the nation, Kudus expressed gratitude for the opportunity and pledged to give his best to make the people happy.
He called for continued support and prayers from the fans, expressing full commitment to performing at his best during the tournament.
“I am fully committed to it. I always do my best when I am in the shirt, so we just urge the fans for more support and prayers, and we are going to do our best in the tournament,” Kudus added.
The West Ham midfielder’s dedication and enthusiasm bode well for Ghana’s prospects at AFCON 2023, with fans eagerly anticipating his impactful contributions on the field.
