In what could be described as a sensational and colourful AFCON 2023 opening ceremony, Ivorian band Magic System and Nigerian singer Yemi Alade thrilled the audience with a spectacular performance.
The renowned coupe decale band from Ivory Coast recently dropped a new song, “Akwaba,” featuring Yemi Alade & Mohamed Ramadan.
Their performance was one of the highlights of the opening ceremony, with fans dancing, screaming and singing along to the song.
Africa Radio reports that Franco-Congolese artist Dany Synthe composed this extremely effective and dynamic title, which will very quickly become an unmissable hit in Africa and elsewhere, in stadiums and in headphones.

Magic System, led by A’Salfo, Yemi Alade and Mohamed Ramadan, in order of appearance, sang a message of unity and welcome, which suits one of the most beautiful sporting competitions on the continent.
It was a moment of dreams for Nigeria’s Yemi Alade, who earlier disclosed that she would love to perform inside a stadium someday.
She had tweeted:
“Since 2016, I have desired to perform at the stadium for football ceremonies surrounded by 100’s of dancers and millions of people.
“I never said this, but at some point i started feeling like my team was chasing them away but something told me to let them do their job.
“7 years after, I’m performing at AFCON. It’s indeed an honour and a dream come true. It’s just the beginning! God bless my team.”
