LIBERIAN SPORTS JOURNALIST APPEALS FOR US$500 TO COVER AFCON IN IVORY COAST

MONROVIA – A Liberian sports journalist, Augustus Auggie Audekina-Doe, has made a passionate appeal to philanthropists, lovers of football, and institutions of goodwill, to fund his pending trip to La Cote d’Ivoire to give coverage to the impending African Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2024 edition.

The photojournalist has been accredited by the continental football authority the Confederation of African Football (CAF), to cover the games slated to kick off on 13th January 2024 and climax on 11th February of the same year, but he’s cash-strapped.

Audekina-Doe launched an appeal Monday, lamenting that another opportunity for him to make it on the international stage to represent his country, Liberia, may yet again slip through his hands due to the lack of needed funding to facilitate his trip to the 2023 CAF TotalEnergies AFCON.

Sports journalists in Liberia like their compatriots with other specialties in journalism, continue to encounter setbacks repeatedly due to the lack of institutional and individual financial stability to enable them to do their jobs adequately both on the local scene and on the international front.

“I am calling on well-meaning Liberians to help me in the process, as I am in search of $500.00 to cover transportation, accommodations, feeding, and internet service,” Audekina-Doe pleaded.

He can be reached via his mobile money number 0886401314 or Orange Money number 0776095954, registered under the name Augustus Audekina-Doe.
