A Kaizer Chiefs starlet is set to face the AFCON-bound Bafana Bafana in a training match behind closed doors.
Hugo Broos‘ charges will take on Lesotho in a training match behind closed doors at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville on Wednesday, 10 January 2024.
The after, Bafana will depart for Ivory Coast on Thursday, 11 January 2024 for the much-awaited CAF AFCON tournament.
Bafana assembled for camp today 4 January 2024. The side will then travel to Stellenbosch for a training camp. The camp will come to an end on the 9th of January 2024.
The 2023 AFCON competition will kick off from Saturday 13 January to Sunday 11 February 2024.
Meanwhile, Likuena have touched down in South Africa to prepare ahead of their Mozambique and Bafana training matches. Both matches will be played in Gauteng on January 6th and 10th respectively.
KAIZER CHIEFS YOUNGSTER SELECTED BY LESOTHO COACH
The Lesotho technical team has gone for a mixture of young and experienced players, which includes Amakhosi U19 player Tumelo Shai.
The 18-year-old has been playing for Chiefs development teams and comes from Qomoqomong in Quthing, Lesotho.
Shai, who plays as a midfielder, also turned out for Wits Juniors before joining the Soweto giants.
Some of the youngsters in the Lesotho squad include Mangaung Unite’s Mosoeu Mosoeu from Ha Mokhalinyane, and Mapoteng-born Tieho Phatsisi who is in the books of Black Leopards.
