Osimhen, recently crowned the 2023 African Footballer of the Year, received a warm welcome from his national teammates upon arriving training camp in Abu Dhabi.
Peseiro expressed confidence in the forward’s ability to elevate the team’s performance at the AFCON and hopes for a successful campaign under the 25 year-old’s leadership.
“He was the highest goal scorer during the AFCON2023 qualifiers. Of course his teammates helped him to achieve that.
“I hope and wish he wins the highest goal scorer and help us win the tournament,” Peseiro said.
Nigeria will play against host Ivory Coast, as well as Equatorial Guinea and Guinea Bissau in Group A.
