How I’d Love To Work With The Nigerian National Team – Mikel Obi

In a recent interview with CNN, former Nigeria international and Chelsea FC midfielder, Obi Mikel, expressed his desire to work with the Nigeria national team in the future.

Mikel Obi, who retired from professional football in September 2022, is widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s most successful footballers. With over a decade of experience playing for the historic English club Chelsea FC, Obi has set his sights on contributing to the development of Nigeria’s football scene.

During the interview on CNN Sports, Mikel Obi discussed that while he’ll love to lend his services to the national team, he said he wouldn’t love to work as a manager.

“I would love to get involved with the Super Eagles, but not as a manager; I don’t want to get sacked; I don’t think I can handle that very well.” Mikel Said

Obi said he’d prefer to work as a mediator between the hierarchy of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and the players.

“I want to be somebody who will try to fix the problems from the top, if it means to be a mediator between the players and the NFF to make sure things are run properly to make sure that we succeed. Obviously success doesn’t start from the pitch, it starts from the top. For me that’s where I think we should start from.” Mikel said.
