Cote d’Ivoire legend, Didier Drogba says it brings the country a lot of pride to host the 34th edition of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.
Speaking to CAFOnline, the football legend said his country is happy to welcome the rest of Africa for the biggest tournament on the continent.
“It brings a sense of pride for me. The last time was in 1984. The fact of having worn the jersey of the national team and now seeing the tournament hosted on home soil is exceptional. We are very happy to welcome all of Africa. It is going to be a party,” Didier Drogba said as quoted by CAFOnline.
The 2023 Africa Cup of Nations tournament is scheduled to kick off on Saturday, January 13.
The opening game of the tournament will be between Ivory Coast and Guinea-Bissau.
It will be the only game that will be played tomorrow.
