“Unity, Faith, and Victory”: Ogun FA Chairman Urges Nigerians to Stand Behind Super Eagles Ahead of AFCON Kick-off in Abidjan

In a fervent call to action, Alhaji Ganiyu Majekodunmi, Chairman of the Ogun State Football Association, Executive Board Member of the NFF, and Coordinator of the Southwest, has urged Nigerians to unite in support of the Super Eagles as they embark on their African Cup of Nations (AFCON) journey in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire.

Majekodunmi emphasized the unifying power of football, describing it as a cornerstone of national unity. He implored the nation to rally behind the Super Eagles, stating, “Football is one of the major things that unites us as a country. I urge Nigeria to stand up for our Super Eagles.”

Expressing confidence in the team, he highlighted the meticulous preparations undertaken by the NFF, assuring that everything necessary has been done to ensure success. Majekodunmi emphasized the importance of unity and oneness, proclaiming, “It’s all about unity, it’s all about oneness, and victory will be ours. We have so much faith in this team, and we want to remain focused.”

Addressing the potential impact of social media, he issued a special appeal to Nigerians, particularly those on social platforms, urging them to use these tools positively to inspire the players rather than causing distractions. He stressed the need for full concentration as the team faces the challenges ahead in the AFCON tournament.

Acknowledging the leadership roles of Alhaji Gusau, the President of the Nigerian Football Federation, and President Bola Tinubu, Majekodunmi expressed gratitude for their unwavering support. He noted Tinubu’s passion for football and credited Gusau for ensuring a distraction-free environment for the team.

Majekodunmi concluded with an optimistic outlook, declaring 2024 as Nigeria’s year.
