In less than three weeks after its launch at the beginning of Ramadan, the UAE’s 1 Billion Meals initiative announced that it had begun distributing food supplies in 13 countries.
It has begun distribution operations in cooperation with the UN’s World Food Program, the Food Banking Regional Network (FBRN), Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian and Charity Establishment (MBRCH), the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the UAE Food Bank, and a number of local humanitarian and charitable organizations in each of its target countries.
It began in Nigeria, India, Sudan, and Lebanon as well as Jordan and Lebanon and Kyrgyzstan and Egypt and Tajikistan and the United Arab Emirates and the United States, and Albania.
UNHCR’s partnership with the initiative allows it to directly reach beneficiaries in Nigeria and India.

Food aid has been distributed to Cameroonian refugees in Nigeria’s Cross River State as part of its first distribution operations.
It has begun distributing long-term food items and food parcels with storable ingredients to the initiative’s recipients in Sudan and Jordan and Lebanon.
A food aid programme run by the MBRCH has begun, working with local authorities and other organizations to reach those in need in the countries of Kyrgyzstan, Egypt, Tajikistan, and Uganda.
One Billion Meals represents the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, which aims to involve everyone in charitable and humanitarian work, including individuals and organizations from various sectors in the UAE and the rest of the world. This is the largest of its kind in the region.
