The South African Football Association (SAFA) has announced Bafana Bafana’s new three-year partnership with Freddy Hirsch as their Shisanyama Partner.

SAFA CEO Lydia Monyepao expressed her excitement over the new partnership.

“Uniting with Freddy Hirsch allows us to bring together two of South Africa’s greatest loves—football and Shisanyama. This collaboration will enhance match-day experiences in stadia as well as at home or fan’s favourite shisanyama spots and enrich our ties and cultural heritage over the next three years. Freddy Hirsch’s commitment to celebrating our heroes mirrors our vision of growing the Bafana Bafana’s relationship with South African fans, which in turn strengthens our national team brand.”

According to a statement shared by SAFA, this initiative invites South Africans to embrace and celebrate their heritage.

Following Bafana’s heroic performance at the Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire earlier this year, the boys walked away with a few accolades at the TotalEnergies CAF AFCON Cote d’Ivoire 2023 Awards.

Shot-stopper Ronwen Williams was voted the Ecobank Best Goalkeeper for his heroics with the bronze medalists, which include a record four penalty saves against Equatorial Guinea and another two against DR Congo.

In addition to finishing third, Bafana Bafana received the Fair Play Air Cote d’Ivoire Team.
