Round 16 clash against Namibia is perhaps the biggest game for Angola in the last 14 years – Coach Pedro Gonçalves

The head coach of Angola, Pedro Gonçalves says it will be a historic moment for his side when they face off with Namibia in the quarter-finals of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament this weekend.

Angola will take on Namibia on Saturday, January 27, in the first Round 16 game of the ongoing tournament in Ivory Coast.

Speaking ahead of the match, coach Pedro Gonçalves said this match will perhaps be the biggest fixture for his side in the last 14 years.

He said his boys have prepared and are focused on giving their all to beat Namibia.

“It has been a historic moment for us and we have a bigger game tomorrow, perhaps the biggest game in the last 14 years of the Angolan national team. Our focus is to be on the pitch and deliver and in the end beat Namibia.

“For sure, it will be very tough but I have confidence tomorrow everybody will do a great job. Namibia is a very powerful team, they are very brave. We need to be considerate in our passing. We have to be balanced because if we lose our balance, Namibia can be dangerous for us,” Pedro Gonçalves said as quoted on CAFOnline.

The game between Angola and Namibia on Saturday will kick off at 5 pm.
