Pencil production begins in Nigeria

– An indigenous Nigeria company will soon commence production of pencils in Nigeria

– Old newspapers will be used for the pencil production, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, minister of Science and Technology says

– According to him, the firm has capacity to produce 2.4million dozens of pencils per annum

After outcry from many Nigerians, the production of pencils will now commence in the country.

According to Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, minister of Science and Technology indigenous firm will commence the production using old newspapers.

He also claimed that the firm has capacity to produce 2.4million dozens of pencils per annum which will surpass local and sub-regional needs, The Nation reports.

He disclosed this in Abuja when he received a local pencil production company Bamib Resources & Investments Company Ltd on a courtesy visit.

He said he felt disturbed when he learnt that no Nigerian company was producing pencils despite its widely usage.

He sid as a consequent of this, he encouraged a science and technology federal agency based in Enugu to continue on thier research towards production of pencils which they had initially started.

Onu consequently commended the firm for working in the best interest of Nigeria.

Meanwhile, had reported that Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state commended President Muhammadu Buhari over a recently signed bilateral agreement with Russia.

Buhari had at the just concluded Russia-Africa summit, signed an agreement with his Russian counterpart, Valdmir Putin, to revive the Ajaokuta Steel Rolling Mill.
