Yakout Afia appointed new Cluster director of Finance for Sheraton Lagos, Sheraton Abuja Hotels

The Cluster general manager for Sheraton Lagos Hotel and Sheraton Abuja Hotel, Rex Nijhof, has announced the appointment of Yakout Afia as Cluster director of Finance for Nigeria based at Sheraton Lagos Hotel.

According to the Cluster general manager, Rex Nijhof, “Yakout arrives with 28 good years of experience in the hotel industry and his growth in various positions in finance across several hotels and countries is truly remarkable”.

Yakout started his career as a general cashier in Cairo Sheraton in 1993.

He then went on to join the finance team that opened Sheraton Miramar and Sheraton Royal Gardens, Egypt in 2006 before moving on to the UAE working at both Sheraton Khalidiya hotel and Le Royal Meridien in Abu Dhabi.

In 2013 Yakout moved to Riyadh to oversee the conversion of the Four Points Khaldiya to the Four Points Brand in 2017.

The Finance guru joined the Marriott Middle East and Africa (MEA) Continent office as director of Finance, Internal Controls and compliance for Middle East, Africa & Indian Ocean.
More recently Yakout has held a Multi-Property role as director of Finance for the Aloft Abu Dhabi and Al Ain in the UAE where he oversaw the finance operations for a number of hotels that met their business targets under his leadership during the economically hard year of 2020; as a result of his expertise in cost containment efforts.
Additionally, Yakout also lead the Marriott Business Council for finance in the UAE.

The new Cluster director of Finance has always been known as amiable, keen on delivery, focused, warm and very friendly; Yakout has always led his teams by showing innovative ways in dealing with financial strategies, business expectations and results.

His journey is undoubtedly abundant in milestones as he consistently adds extensive value to our Hotels and ensures overall business delivery and considerable success.

His accomplishments are a testament to his wealth of experience and proficiency in his field.

Yakout hails from Egypt and is married with two kids
