UAE selected to host COP28 in 2023

The UAE is to host the United Nations Climate Change Conference in 2023.

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed al Nahyan announced the news via Twitter, saying, “The UAE is honoured to have been selected as the host country for COP28 in 2023.”

“We look forward to working with the international community to accelerate global efforts to address climate change & environmental protection & create a more sustainable economic future,” His Highness continued.

Before being selected, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, said the UAE would be fully prepared if selected.

“The UAE has submitted a request to host the COP28 conference in 2023, the largest global conference of heads of state and government on climate and environmental issues,” Sheikh Mohammed said on Twitter.

The current COP26 meeting concludes on Friday in Glasgow. COP27 is scheduled to take place in November 2022.
