UAE announces 2,950 Covid-19 cases, 2,218 recoveries

The UAE News report: The UAE on Friday announced 2,950 covid-19 cases in addition to 2,218 recoveries and three deaths in the country because of the coronavirus pandemic, it was announced by the UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention.

As of January 08, 2020, the total Covid-19 cases in the UAE stands at 224,704 while total recoveries from this deadly virus reach 201,396.

It is also reported that after the three deaths in the UAE during the last 24 hours, the total number of deaths in the country reach 697. There are total 22,611 active coronavirus cases in the country at this point in time.

The Ministry also announced that over 22 million Covid-19 tests have been carried out in the country so far.

UAE authorities on Thursday confirmed that more than 61,000 people have got a coronavirus vaccine over the last 24 hours, bringing to 887,697 the total number of shots taken so far across the nation.

Meanwhile, volunteers in Abu Dhabi have begun taking part in Phase III clinical trials of the Russian adenovirus-based Covid-19 vaccine (Sputnik V). The Russian vaccine, which is initially open to 500 volunteers, is being tested on healthy adults from various nationalities aged 18 and above, who live in Abu Dhabi, have not previously been infected with Covid-19, have not participated in any other Covid-19 vaccination trial, and have not suffered any communicable or severe respiratory diseases for at least 14 days.
