The UAE leaders express their condolences following the death of Britain’s Prince Philip


It was a sad day for Britain as Britain’s Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh and consort of Queen Elizabeth II, died on April 9, at the age of 99. Had been sick for a long time and stayed in the hospital for a month earlier this year, after which he underwent heart surgery, the Prince breathed his last peacefully at Windsor Castle.

Soon after, a statement from Buckingham Palace said that “His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle.” Following the news, the flag at Buckingham Palace was lowered to half-mast and a notice was posted on the gates to mark the duke’s death.

Condolences poured in from across the globe and from nations deeply linked to the duke and his family. The UAE also shared a good relationship with the Prince and Queen Elizabeth II and taking to the sad news, UAE leaders send condolences on his death.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai sent their condolences to the UK’s Queen Elizabeth II and Charles, Prince of Wales. “On behalf of people of UAE, I extend my sincere condolences to Queen Elizabeth II & the people of the United Kingdom over the demise of Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. A close friend to the UAE & other nations, he will always be remembered for his devotion to his country and people,” he wrote.

Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed expressed his sympathies in a tweet and offered condolences to the Royal Family, and the British people. “My deepest condolences to HM Queen Elizabeth II, HRH Prince Charles, the Royal Family, and the British people on the passing of HRH Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh. May you be blessed with comfort and solace during these difficult times.,” he tweeted.

UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al-Nahyan sent his condolences to the Queen, expressing his heartfelt sympathies and solace to the monarch.

Deputy Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Maktoum Bin Mohammed wrote, “Our deepest condolences to Queen Elizabeth II & the British people on the passing of Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. He leaves behind a distinguished legacy and a remarkable role in strengthening relations between the UAE & Britain. He will be remembered always.”

The UAE ambassador to the UK also paid tribute to the late Duke of Edinburgh. He wrote, “I would like to offer my deepest condolences to the Queen and the British Royal Family on the passing of Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. He will be remembered as a good friend to the UAE and a positive influence on causes such as sustainability and environmental protection.”
