Taking a step towards environmental protection and welfare, the residents of Palm Jumeirah in the UAE took part in a community cleanliness drive in the area recently.
The environmental awareness event was held in collaboration with Nakheel along with the Dubai Municipality along with neighbourhood
social network Hayi and environmental management company Bee’ah.
As a part of the ongoing programme of interactive, educational events across all its communities in Dubai, the initiative took place in Palm Jumeirah’s Al Ittihad Park.
The park that boasts of 60 different species of trees and plants proved to be a perfect spot for environment lovers as the event took its course. The event’s main focus was on the ongoing environmental crises –plastic and how it is harmful to the ecosystem. The residents were informed about the environmental issues that the Earth is facing and ways to tackle them for better sustainable living.
Talking about the event, Chief Community Management Officer at Nakheel, Francis Giani shared, “We are committed to bringing residents together – in safety – for interactive events that encourage social interaction and raise awareness of important issues such as recycling.”
After successfully conducting community clean-up drives in Discovery Gardens and Jumeirah Village Circle last month, the event at Al Ittihad Park was no less than a success. With the residents’ eagerness to contribute to the environment, the clean-up drive was a promise to contribute to recycling.
To add to that, the clean-up drives conducted by the group balance the company’s regular cleaning waste management programme and they are being rolled out across the rest of Nakheel’s communities over the coming weeks.
