Neal Katyal Announced as Keynote Speaker at the 2023 Fred Korematsu Day Event in San Francisco

PRWIRE: JANUARY 12. San Francisco, CA – On Saturday, January 28, 2023, The Fred T. Korematsu Institute will commemorate the 40th Anniversary of the Coram Nobis cases that overturned the three federal convictions of Fred Korematsu, Gordon Hirabayashi, and Minoru Yasui. They dared to challenge President Roosevelt’s Executive Order 9066. The event will be held at the Marriott Marquis hotel in downtown San Francisco.

This is also in celebration of Fred Korematsu Day of Civil Liberties and the Constitution (January 30). This will be the Fred T. Korematsu Institute’s first In-Person Dinner Event. The event will be hosted by KTVU reporter and journalist Jana Katsuyama.

In these times of growing threats to civil liberties, voter suppression, and AAPI violence, we look forward to honoring the heroes, the coram nobis legal teams, and highlighting the impact and relevance of the cases to present-day civil rights, social justice, and advocacy.

The Fred T. Korematsu Institute is pleased to welcome the former Acting Solicitor General of the United States, Paul Saunders Professor at Georgetown University, and MSNBC TV contributor, Neal Katyal, as the keynote speaker.

As we honor the past, we can take action today through civic education and voting to advocate for a future of diversity, equity, and inclusion. For more information, please visit the Fred T. Korematsu Institute website: korematsuinstitute.org
