From September, LOT will be able to fly from Warsaw to Dubai. The Polish carrier will perform such cruises three times a week, and the inauguration date set for September 19 is not accidental, because EXPO 2020 will start soon in Dubai.
Dubai will host the world exhibition from October 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022. And the exhibition opening date has been moved from last year due to the pandemic.
One-way trip will take 6 hours.
According to information from LOT, this direction is to be seasonal and will be maintained throughout the winter of 2021/22. The Warsaw-Dubai route is already operated by Dubai’s Emirates airlines, which offer connecting flights at very favorable prices – to Africa and Asia. On the other hand, the Warsaw-Dubai section is relatively expensive and usually costs only PLN 200-300 less than, for example, a flight to Bangkok or Singapore with a change in Dubai. The current LOT tariffs show that (they may be promotional prices), but for a return ticket to Dubai we will pay a third less than in Emirates.
LOT will fly to Dubai, depending on the demand, either B787 or B737 NG. Emirates also operates Boeings on this route, but the larger ones – the B777. The Dubai airline wanted in the past, when the demand for travel was greater than it is now, to have the world’s largest plane, the Airbus A380, on its route to Warsaw. However, this project was abandoned.
LOT hopes that this connection will interest Polish tourists who will fly there not only for EXPO, but also for winter holidays, as it used to be this year, and Dubai, like Zanzibar, was one of the most popular destinations for winter holidays.
– In the last few years, Dubai has become one of the most frequently chosen exotic destinations in winter by Poles. Before the pandemic in 2019 alone, almost 100,000 people traveled from Poland to the capital of this emirate. passengers. The potential for connection also in the charter segment means that, in addition to the offer of carriers from the Zatoka, we see space for development for LOT – says Michał Fijoł, Member of the Management Board for Commercial Affairs at LOT.
In the press release, LOT does not hide that this year it intends to add more seasonal and regular connections. Ultimately, however, this year’s network, which currently accounts for about half of the 2019 offer, will depend on the sanitary and epidemiological situation in the world.
