Humanitarian Aid Chief Abdirahman Abdishakur meets with UAE Ambassador to Somalia Mohamed Ahmed Othman Al Hammadi.

The Special Envoy for Tackling Drought Abdirahman Abdishakur on Monday met with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Ambassador to Somalia Mohamed Ahmed Othman Al Hammadi.

The meeting between the two officials centred around on the drought mitigation efforts in the country.

Abdishakur called on the UAE to chip in their help so as o alleviate the suffering of millions of Somali people who are facing the worst drought since decades.

UAE government recently donated $9.6 million to support and bolster Humanitarian assistance for the drought stricken people in the Horn of Africa Nation.

Ambassador Hammadi reiterated his government’s committment to reinforcing and re-doubling emergency relief responses in Somalia.

UAE and Somalia renewed their cooperations in January this year after three years of hiatus following seizure of UAE money at Mogadishu’s Aden Abdulle International Airport by the former administration.
