It will include a research centre, an academy and laboratories to help develop the technology.
His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai’s Crown Prince and Chairman of The Executive Council approved the facility’s establishment during a meeting of the Executive Council.
The 3D printing hub aims to attract entrepreneurs and investors, and also provide opportunities to researchers.
“By launching such initiatives we aim to achieve a quantum leap in the development of future-oriented industries that can have a significant positive impact on sustainable development,” said Sheikh Hamdan.
The Executive Council also approved Dubai Health Authority’s (DHA) physiotherapy and rehabilitation strategy based on international best practices.
A new higher education regulatory policy focussed on attracting branches of international universities to Dubai was also cleared.
The policy presented by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) aims to further boost Dubai’s rising profile as a global higher education hub by offering new education opportunities.
