Expo 2020 Dubai expresses sadness over demise of Dubai Deputy Ruler, offers condolences

The organisers of the Expo 2020 Dubai have expressed sadness on the passing of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Minister of Finance.

The Expo organisers offer their sincere condolences to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, the Ruling Family, the government and the citizens and residents of the UAE.

They noted that in observation of the mourning period, the preview of Terra – The Sustainability Pavilion will close with immediate effect while the dates for re-opening will be confirmed in due course.

“Visitors who have already purchased tickets will be able to use them on an alternative day, or can request a refund by contacting 800-EXPO or info@expo2020.ae.

Meanwhile, the Expo 2020 Dubai employees have also offered their sincere condolences to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai and the Ruling Family on the sad passing of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Minister of Finance.

HE Reem Al Hashimy, UAE minister of state for International Cooperation, director general of Expo 2020 Dubai, said: “We express our deep sorrow and sadness on the passing of Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashed Al Maktoum. We join the rulers and people of the UAE as we pray for mercy for the late Sheikh Hamdan, and for him to be blessed with solace.

“The late Sheikh Hamdan was a model for all of in love for country, hard work and great achievements. His name will forever be held in high esteem in the history of our dear nation.”
