With just less than two weeks to go for the event, excitement is at its peak for the visitors and residents of Dubai for Expo 2020 and to add the anticipation is the grand opening ceremony and the line-up of the showstoppers.
The opening ceremony of Expo 2020 Dubai will have world-famous classical, popular, and regional musicians who would be headlining the grand event.
World-famous opera singer Andrea Bocelli will headline the event who will perform at Expo 2020 Dubai’s opening ceremony. The singer will be joined by Grammy-nominated, Golden Globe-winning actress, singer-songwriter Andra Day, British singer-songwriter Ellie Goulding, international pianist Lang Lang, and four-time Grammy-winner Angelique Kidjo in a star-studded line-up.
Taking place at the Al Wasl Plaza, the audience will get to witness a galore of performances by regional artists like ‘Artist of Arabs’ Mohamed Abdu, much-loved Emirati singing sensation Ahlam Alshamsi and Emirati artist and Expo 2020 Dubai ambassador Hussain Al Jassmi.
Upcoming UAE singer-songwriter Almas and Grammy-nominated Lebanese American singer Mayssa Karaa are also a part of the grand line-up.
Over 1,000 performers and technical staff will be a part of the Expo 2020 Dubai’s theme of ‘Connecting Minds, Creating the Future’ who aim to put the best show before the world audience.
The ones who couldn’t make it to the grand opening, can get a glimpse of the mesmeric curtain raiser of the Expo 2020 Dubai opening ceremony on TV with the event being streamed globally on Expo TV, Virtual Expo, and TV stations around the world.
The event has been choreographed by Scott Givens, executive producer and chief executive of FiveCurrents, who has 62 global events and Olympic ceremonies under his glories.
Tareq Ghosheh, chief event and entertainment officer at Expo 2020 Dubai, shared, “As the global spotlight shines on the UAE, this incredible, unforgettable evening will celebrate the collaborative, creative and optimistic spirit of Expo 2020, demonstrating our commitment to hosting a mega-event that will delight the world.
“Combining some of the most sought-after names in the world of music, live events and entertainment with the awe-inspiring, world-first technologies of the iconic Al Wasl Plaza, this is the ‘big bang’ that sets the scene for 182 days of visually striking and emotionally inspiring experiences, as we invite visitors from across the planet to join the making of a new world,” he added.
Expo 2020 Dubai will open to the public on October 1 and run for six months until the end of March 2022.
