Emirates further extends suspension of passengers from Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh

ECONOMYNEXT – Emirates Airlines, the flag carrier of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), has further extended a suspension of carrying passengers from Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan and Bangladesh to Dubai till August 07 from July 28.

Emirates Airlines made this announcement on its website in line with UAE government directives.

Passengers who have connected through India, Pakistan, Bangladesh or Sri Lanka in the last 14 days will not be accepted to travel from any other point to the UAE either, the airline said.

UAE nationals, holders of UAE Golden Visas and members of diplomatic missions who comply with updated COVID-19 protocols are exempt and may be accepted for travel, the statement said.

Passengers whose flights have been cancelled due to COVID-19 restrictions do not have to rebook, Emirates said.

“You can simply hold on to your Emirates ticket and, when flights resume, get in touch with us or your booking office to make new travel plans,” it added.

Emirates had also announced that it has been getting a large volumes of calls to its contact centres whose flights are impacted or cancelled by the suspension. (Colombo/Jul29/2021)
