Dubai Customs revealed in recent statistics that Dubai’s foreign trade in medicines and medical supplies achieved in the first quarter of 2021 a growth of 31 percent to reach about 6.8 billion dirhams, distributed to imports worth 5.3 billion dirhams, and exports and re-exports worth 1.4 billion dirhams compared to trade in medicines and medical supplies In the first quarter of the year 2020, which amounted to 5.2 billion dirhams, the amount of trade in medicines and medical supplies recorded in the first quarter of 2021 a growth of 47 percent to reach 48.6 thousand tons, compared to 33 thousand tons in the first quarter of 2020.

Dubai Customs is keen to secure the society’s needs of medicines and medical supplies to maintain people’s health, as the department has strengthened its efforts to facilitate the movement of trade in medicines and medical supplies. It has provided its customs centers with all the necessary equipment to ensure quick access to these materials to markets to meet the needs of pharmacies, hospitals and health centers, after completing the requirements of the Ministry of Health. and community protection that guarantees the highest levels of quality and efficiency of these vital products to the health and safety of the community.

Naseem Al Muhairi, Senior Director of the Studies and Statistics Department at Dubai Customs, said that the department is keen on the arrival of medicines and medical supplies to the market without delay to ensure their safety and secure the needs of the community with high efficiency, especially in the current circumstances the world is witnessing in light of the Covid 19 pandemic, where the demand for these products has increased. Dubai Customs keeps pace with these developments by ensuring the safety of shipments of medicines and medical supplies. Work is done to clear these shipments after ensuring that they meet the requirements of the Ministry of Health and Community Protection to complete the inspection, inspection and customs clearance procedures.

She added that the department is working to monitor the continuous increase in Dubai’s trade in medicines and medical supplies by preparing modern statistics that support the movement of trade in medicine by providing the community with integrated statistical data on the various types of medicines and medical supplies that are in high demand under the current circumstances, with the aim of enabling companies and traders to Knowing the actual needs of medicine and medical supplies and securing them continuously to maintain the state of health stability that characterizes our society, noting that the United Arab Emirates is one of the advanced countries in the level of health care for individuals by providing all the requirements for treatment and hospitalization and in the quantities required by health institutions while maintaining the level of quality And the safety of medicine and medical supplies that ensure access to the best level of health stability in our society.
