‘A little reading is all the therapy a person needs sometimes’ reads a popular quote and rightly so, bibliophiles will second to that. Reading has many benefits including stress reduction.
Thus, to inculcate the habit of reading, Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) promotes the habit of reading. Titled ‘Reading is Good for the Soul,’ Dubai Culture has announced a virtual workshop for adults over the age of 18.
In an effort to activate the National Month of Reading, the workshop will be held to inspire community members, especially the young generation, to embrace knowledge by motivating them to practise reading as a daily habit, in tandem with the activities of The Reading Box 2021.
Earlier this year, Dubai Culture launched its 2021 edition of ‘The Reading Box’ in a digital format as part of its continuous interest to implement National Reading Month.
To helm the workshop, Ibrahim Al Yafi, a consultant and instructor in the field of developing human resources, organisations and leadership skills, will discuss two key issues during the workshop ‒ the negligence of reading in many and readers’ inabilities to obtain the desired benefit from reading, as well as will highlight methods to overcome them. The workshop will be based on the Dubai Culture’s awareness of the importance of reading as an effective means of self-development, success and progress.
To spread musical awareness and culture among children, Dubai Culture organises the Dubai Performing Arts Programme to discover, support, develop and nurture emerging talents, including citizens and residents. These events help in musical art integration into Emirati culture and encouraging a generation interested in creativity and innovation.
