Plastic artist Mansour Al-Mutairi described his personal art exhibition “Whisper of Iron” as an exceptional experience for Saudi plastic art, considering the works he presented in the exhibition had achieved their goal, and through which he was able to link the relationship of plastic art with art music, using iron in his works, and presented a group of works Artistic representations of some eminent personalities, as well as other works of musical instruments. In his interview with Al-Madina, Al-Mutairi added that he is an artist dominated by the surreal and abstract style, but the exhibition “Whisper of Iron” embodies a surreal idea full of adventure in how expressions are expressed in the harsh iron material with the softness of tone, word and musical song, wishing to see these works in the streets and squares..

Plastic artist Mansour Al-Mutairi spoke about his exhibition “Whisper of Iron” and about several artistic topics that we present to our valued readers through the following lines.

After several exhibitions and participations, you presented a distinguished exhibition using iron ore at the Society of Culture and Arts in Jeddah, how satisfied are you with the exhibition?

– When you present a fine artistic experience in the heart and stronghold of art and arts in the Kingdom, such as the Arts Association in Jeddah, then know that you are satisfied with what you offer, and thankfully, you achieved a minimum level of satisfaction with the experience of the “Whisper of Iron” exhibition because the ambition is much greater, but you achieved the highest level of satisfaction with Echoes of this experience among artists, critics, writers, audiences and in the media, this experience is exceptional in terms of its purpose and the quality of the topics chosen.

What difficulties did you encounter in using the materials?

– We cannot call them difficulties as much as they are challenges, and since I am a plastic academic, there were no challenges as much as there was fun in learning and bringing back memories at university and ironwork, but in a purely artistic way. The artist is usually an adventurer who loves everything that is new to him and enters this field as a matter of experimentation, but when he sees that this new experience he has may meet most of the goals of using it, he must continue and storm this world with its negatives and positives, there is no field without challenges, but they are fun challenges in which to enter Worlds other than colors and cloth. Iron has some hardness and extreme heat and forces you to use rituals and tools that you have never used before, such as welding and electric machines, interrupting and smoothing machines, and it introduces you to the world of physics and chemistry intensively to study the cases of rust on iron, its time and colors and discover its colors from nothingness, as you discover the world of colors in oil, acrylic and inks, a scientist Its challenges are fun and controlled.

Who are the most prominent personalities that you touched on in your work… and why were they chosen?

The exhibition “Whisper of Iron” is an exceptional experience for Saudi plastic art, linking the relationship of plastic art with art of music, in addition to documenting the history of music art in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Therefore, some influential personalities were introduced into the march of the Saudi song with different symbols that suit each character, whether this The character from the song’s writers is like the poets: Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal, Prince Khaled Al-Faisal and Prince Badr bin Abdul-Mohsen, or as the composers of these poems to make a song that enriched the Saudi lyrical heritage through artists such as: Tariq Abdul-Hakim, Talal Maddah, Muhammad Abdo, Abadi Al-Jawhar, Abdullah Rashad, Hassan Iskandarani, Mustafa Iskandarani, and many more that we cannot enumerate. . Also, this exhibition did not ignore the female component of the artists who made their mark in the history of Saudi lyrical art, such as the artists: Ibtisam Lutfi, Toha and Etab.

Do you have a tendency to display this business in another city?

– One of my most important goals is to present this experience in various regions of the Kingdom to be seen by the largest segment of recipients and intellectuals, and I have received more than one invitation to move the exhibition to Riyadh and the Eastern Province, in addition to invitations from outside the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, especially from Egypt, Dubai, Rome and Paris, but the world of experimentation and discovery is of the essence. Al-Hadid made me think about renewing and updating this experience with the same idea and goals and with the same name, Whisper Al-Hadid. This country, and with the vision of Prince Mohammed bin Salman, deserves to be more serious in order to be in line with Vision 2030 in every possible way, including plastic art.

* What are the reasons behind your tendency to iron ore?

– I am an artist who is predominantly surrealist and abstract, and the exhibition “Whisper of Iron” is a surreal idea full of adventure in how expressions are made with the harsh iron material with the softness of tone, word and musical song. and tune. Technically, the world of color dominated the experiment through rust colors, and then the topic developed into complete control over the degree of color and rust.

The beauty of iron in its natural color without any dye interference, and this is what I tried to convey to the recipient, so I called it “Whisper of Iron,” so I specifically mentioned the term iron and did not mention minerals, for example.

Iron in its interactions with nature creates for us amazing colors of structures through silver, gold and black.

Rust was a strong and intended symbol in the exhibition “Whisper of Iron” and indicates time and a long period, and Saudi music art has a long history in the Arabian Peninsula, or our Saudi heritage since the founding of the first Saudi state to the present time.

How do you see the lack of artists who turned to this material?

– We cannot judge that there are few who use iron ore in plastic art, but we may see that the prevailing is plastic photography and stone and wood applications. There are those from the old generation who excelled in this material, and there are those from the next generation who will see them and fascinate us with their works. When the plastic artist is convinced of the material, he is creative, and some materials need to approach and coexist with them to show their beauty, and this is the gateway to the emergence of artists practicing this material.

When do we see these works of art in the squares and streets?

– The artist is a tenderer who wants his work to affect the civilized scene of the country, but this question is asked to the city secretariats and the Ministry of Culture, and we, as artists, want to see our fingerprints on the streets and the city in line with Vision 2030 and this is a goal.
