Agreement Signed For XOF129bn Ayébo Power Plant in Cote d’Ivoire

News: Biovea Energie, a joint venture comprising Électricité de France (40%), Meridiam (36%), Biokala (24%), has signed an agreement with Movis Ivory Coast to supply biomass for the XOF129.0bn (USD227.5mn) Ayébo biomass power plant in Cote d’Ivoire. The 46MW facility will feature two-units of 23MW each and is backed by Proparco, a unit of the French development agency AFD, financing from the Netherlands development finance company FMO, the Private Infrastructure Development Group and its subsidiary Emerging Africa Infrastructure Fund. The plant is expected to be operational in 2023. Compagnie Ivoirienne d’Electricité will purchase electricity from the facility under a 25-year power purchase agreement (Afrik21).
