AFCON R’s: Kakay’s Sierra Leone hold favourites Algeria

OSSIE Kakay and his Sierra Leone side pulled off the surprise of the Africa Cup of Nations so far following a goalless draw with current holders Algeria in Group E.

The Leone Stars actually had the better of the first half – though Kakay and co. were much busier in the second period against the tournament favourites, who included the likes of Man City’s Riyad Mahrez and West Ham’s Said Benrahma.

Ossie featured for the full 90 minutes at right-back, in a defence which also included former QPR centre-half Steven Caulker.

Sierra Leone are back in action on Sunday against Ivory Coast, kick-off 4pm GMT.
