Acclaimed author Sheikha Salama Bint Hazza Al Nahyan to be a part of Sharjah International Book Fair

While bibliophiles eagerly wait for the Sharjah International Book Fair to take place in a couple of months, another reason for the readers to rejoice is the participation by much-admired Emirati author and member of the UAE ruling family Sheikha Salama Bint Hazza Al Nahyan at the fair.

The author announced her participation in this year’s Sharjah International Book Fair that is going to take place from November 3 to 13, 2021, as a part of the promotional campaign around her latest children’s book release —The Horse, The Saluki, and The Falcon.

The three books are a collection of quotes that pays homage to the UAE through distinguished animals from the Emirati culture and turn them into icons of wisdom that communicate lessons in empathy, love, and kindness.

Talking about her participation at the book fair Sheikha Salama shared, “I am humbled and honoured to take part in this esteemed event and exhibit my work. My mission is to raise awareness around our cultural heritage through a series of children’s books and have people worldwide know more about our history and culture. That is why I have displayed my work in numerous reputable book fairs, and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to display my books at the Sharjah International Book Fair.’’

The writer has books like The Invisible Orphans, A Play on Children’s Rights, Umm Al Nar and The Well Off Mysteries to her name and aims to pay tribute to her Emirati heritage through her writing as she later discovered few books represent the Emirati culture.

The Sharjah International Book Fair is an annual international cultural event that demonstrates and promotes the work of renowned Arabic and international authors, and the publishing industry, in addition to conducting intellectual, cultural, and artistic activities.

The book fair also has established awards programmes in accordance with nomination and selection means executed around the year awarding authors in different categories such as Best Emirati Book, Best International Book, Best Arabic Novel, The Publisher Recognition Awards, Cultural Personality of The Year, and The Turjuman Awards.
