$100,000 reward for information on whereabouts of Dubai resident who went missing in the Maldives

The husband of a Dubai resident who went missing in the Maldives 11 days ago has put up a $100,000 (Dh370,000) reward for information on his wife’s whereabouts.

Giedre Vaskyte, 33, was eight months pregnant when she disappeared from the Intercontinental Resort on Maamunagau Island shortly after checking in on February 13.

Her husband, Parmar Gursharanjit Singh, said they were relaxing by the pool shortly before Ms Vaskyte headed to the beach, alone, for a swim.

In a statement to The National on Wednesday, the hotel said it was working closely with the local authorities on the case.

A close family member of the couple told Khaleej Times they believe Ms Vaskyte may have been abducted.

“That is why we are putting a reward of $100,000 for anyone who can give information about her or help us find her,” said Uday Singh.

The Canadian Embassies in the UAE and Maldives have been contacted for comment.
