Dubai: A new court has been set up in Dubai to hear and resolve inheritance cases. The decision was announced by Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed, the UAE’s Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Finance and Deputy Ruler of Dubai, with the aim of making the legal system more efficient. Court formation aims to save time for court proceedings, facilitate legal proceedings and help protect family ties.

The court will only consider cases related to inheritance worth more than five lakh dirhams. It has directed that the case be registered within 30 days of its registration and that judgment be pronounced within one year. Judgments issued by the court will be final.

However, the authorities said that they could file a petition and appeal against the verdict. This Court can hear labor, civil, commercial and property cases related to inheritance. The trial period of the case can be extended only under certain circumstances and with the approval of the Chief Justice. The Dubai Media Office said it would form a panel of judges from the Sessions, Appeals and First Instance Courts to handle cases in the new court.
