Chelsea have been quoted an enormous €80m fee for Ousmane Diomande, the Sporting CP player.
SportWitness today report on widespread European interest in the 19 year old, who has emerged as a regular starter for Ruben Amorim this season and is quickly gaining a reputation as one of the brightest talents in Europe in his position.
Diomande played for the Ivory Coast in this international break, and the Blues apparently had scouts in place to watch him.
The central defender is apparently very high up our list of players we consider a future star – and he’s been priced accordingly.
One interesting wrinkle is Diomande’s contract situation – Sporting are still hoping to secure him on a new long term deal, and until they do, they will fear the teenager being poached by a major European side. They’re keen to agree a a new contract with their €80m asking price baked in as a release clause to protect their asset’s value.
