The last time southern Ontario got to see the whole of the moon it eclipsed the sun, producing a spectacular show across a wide swath of North America.
Technically, it was a new moon, meaning it was the phase of the moon we don’t usually get to see, except in the rare circumstance, such as on April 8, in which the moon is perfectly aligned between the earth and the sun, and then we see it as a silhouette blocking out the sun, giving us a solar eclipse.
