Peseiro had experimented with a 4-3-3 formation in the team’s opening match against Equatorial Guinea, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
However, he has since reverted to the 3-4-3 setup for the subsequent games against Cote d’Ivoire and Guinea-Bissau.
The Portuguese coach emphasized that there was no need to change a winning strategy and highlighted the team’s consistent creation of scoring opportunities.
“We created the highest number of chances in the group stage,” Peseiro stated during a press conference. “If we create chances, then why do we need to change our style of play? Our team is playing well; we don’t need to change our strategy.”
Peseiro stressed the need for the team to convert their chances efficiently, emphasizing the importance of both scoring goals and maintaining a strong defensive performance.
“What we need to do is start converting our chances. That’s what has been lacking for us.
“I think at times you can create less chances and score more goals. We hope things will improve for us in this aspect tomorrow.
“We want to score and win. It is important to defend well like we have been doing since the start of the competition.”
The Super Eagles are set to face the Indomitable Lions at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium in Abidjan on Saturday, with the match scheduled to kick off at 9 PM Nigeria time.
