Italy’s Saipem, NPCC ink $4.1bn contract with ADNOC for gas project

Italy’s Saipem, in consortium with National Petroleum Construction Company (NPCC), has been awarded a contract by Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) for work on the Hail and Ghasha gas development project in the UAE. The contract, worth approximately $4.1 billion, involves the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of four drilling centers, one processing plant, offshore structures, and more than 300 km of subsea pipelines. Saipem plans to leverage its expertise in integrated onshore and offshore projects, shallow water offshore vessels, welding technology for corrosion-resistant materials, and engineering capabilities to deliver the project. The company will also collaborate with ADNOC on environmental stewardship. The Hail and Ghasha project is part of the Ghasha Concession, the world’s largest offshore sour gas development, and an important component of ADNOC’s integrated gas master plan. The project aims to capture 1.5 million tonnes per year of CO2 and produce low-carbon hydrogen to reduce emissions. Saipem has recently secured several new projects, including a deal worth $400 million to work for Eni off Ivory Coast in West Africa.
