Accra, Ghana//-The Hajj Board of Ghana has announced an amount of Ghc 39,000.00 as the official fare for this year’s pilgrimage to the Saudi Kingdom.
According to the Board, management has worked assiduously to arrive at the reasonable fare and affordable to Ghanaian pilgrims explaining that neighbouring countries like Nigerian Muslims are paying close to N2.5m equivalent to Ghc 47,000.00.
Addressing the media in Accra, the Chairman of the Ghana Hajj Board, Sheikh I. C. Quaye adds that Ghana remains on course to deliver a successful Hajj at a fare that is significantly lower than most of the neighbouring countries.
He says checks on the fare on the internet indicated that Ghana fare is lower than that of Nigeria, Niger, as Ivory Coast, Benin are also quite close to the fare.
Mr Quaye assures that Ghana will abide by the necessary protocols from the Saudi Arabia government on the COVID-19 and will also ensure that the country preparedness to airlift Ghanaian pilgrims is achieved,
He adds that accommodation, catering, transportation are well put in place for the satisfaction of pilgrims.
“It is very important to note that Ghanaian pilgrims who kept their fees deposits with the Board in the year 2020 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic which led to a temporal cancellation of travels, the Board in this regard has taken note of their faith and will ensure that fervent preparation is put in place for them to pay Ghc 26,000.00 as top up to enable them participate in this year’s pilgrimage.
The Board Chairman sates that the management of the board has received many international accolades and principal among them is the award of the Best Non-Arab performing country in line with organisation and administration of the Hajj preparations and travels.
