Entry to 78 Museums & Archaeological Sites Across Egypt Digitised

To streamline the tourist experience, access to 78 archaeological sites has been digitised.

Entry to 78 museums and archaeological sites across Egypt has been digitized, aligning with Egypt’s national tourism strategy to ensure high standards of security, safety, and health. Building on the success of electronic payment methods introduced in 2021, 99.6% of total collections now utilize digital payment systems, enhancing transaction efficiency for both Egyptian and foreign visitors.

Several archaeological sites including the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square, the Karnak Temple, and the Valley of the Kings have also implemented self-service ticket-booking machines, promoting entirely contactless ticketing.

Plans are also underway for the development of a fully contactless mobile app, allowing users to gain entry to archaeological sites and museums via their phones, as well as facilitating entry visas to the country. This initiative is currently under discussion. Additionally, the app aims to enrich the tourist experience by offering a comprehensive calendar of cultural events across the country and enabling tourists to make online bookings for hotels and tourist restaurants.
