Egypt secures $130m in non-refundable USAID grants | Amwal Al Ghad

Egypt is poised to receive eight non-refundable development grants totaling $130 million from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), represented by the US Embassy in Egypt.

The agreements were signed by the Minister of International Cooperation, Rania Al-Mashat, and the US Ambassador to Egypt, Hero Mustafa Garg, on Thursday.

These agreements aim to support Egypt’s development goals across various sectors, including education, health, agriculture, trade, climate change, and water resources.

The grants include $13.5 million for comprehensive economic governance, $35 million for higher education initiatives, and $12 million for basic education.

Additionally, $15 million will be allocated to improving health outcomes, $14.5 million for rural development, $26.9 million to enhance trade and investment, $5.5 million for climate change, and $7.5 million for water support programmes.

This collaboration is part of a broader ongoing development cooperation portfolio with USAID, which has totaled about $1 billion since 2014.
