Mark Bowman, Vice-President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development for Policy and Partnerships, visited Egypt yesterday to hold high-level meetings with government officials and leaders of the business community with the aim of discussing support for the green economy and sustainable projects.

“The EBRD is committed to supporting Egypt through financing and policy dialogue to help promote a green, sustainable and inclusive economy,” Bowman said.

He added, “We praise the progress Egypt has made in the field of energy within the water-food-energy nexus approach, which we worked on with the authorities and the private sector.”

The bank has invested more than 11.5 billion euros in 174 different projects in Egypt since the start of its operations in 2012 until now.

The EBRD’s investments aim to make the economies in the regions in which it invests competitive, inclusive, well-governed, green, resilient and integrated.

According to the statement, during his visit, Bowman will meet with Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of International Cooperation and Governor of Egypt at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Tarek El-Molla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development.

Bowman will also meet with business community leaders and clients of the EBRD, according to the statement.
