Dubai’s FIVE Hotels & Resorts has released a preview of FIVE Zurich’s The Penthouse, Switzerland’s first high energy Japanese dining experience. The footage reveals a rooftop restaurant, lounge and nightclub that offers views of the Zurich skyline. The Swiss property marks the Dubai brand’s first step out of the emirate and forays into the European market.
Committed to tapping into the local market, FIVE is still bringing plenty of lessons over from Dubai, especially when it comes to dining. In addition to FIVE Zurich housing The Penthouse, it will also open Maiden Shanghai as found on FIVE Palm Jumeirah; and Soul St. as found in FIVE JVC.
Soul St. Will feature a range of street food-inspired dishes, including tacos and shawarmas. It will also offer Vietnamese pho, nitro yogurt bombs and chicken tikka masala. In terms of the venue, it will have its own balcony and be styled with graffiti art created by international artists.

A 1920s-inspired restaurant with an open-air terrace, Maiden Shanghai looks to bring Chinese cuisine to a high-energy setting. It will feature its own private dining room and play host to a number of recurring events, including a brunch. Promised to be “Zurich’s most-coveted new destination for nightlife and music,” The Penthouse will bring a Japanese menu alongside a nightclub and a full docket of well-known DJs. It will have indoor and outdoor areas.
The Vault is a new addition for FIVE, containing a number of the city’s best wines, along with a dedicated sommelier. It is designed as a place for wine lovers, while also having a cigar collection. In terms of food, it will be a tapas-style menu where the wine will take centre stage.
An all-day café and bar, Tune In will have its own alfresco terrace garden. Meanwhile, The Social Pool will be an outdoor space with an integrated Jacuzzi, a cocktail menu, and again, a long line of DJs set to feature.

Speaking about the venues as a whole, FIVE Hotels and Resorts CEO Aloki Batra said: “FIVE is thrilled to bring our pioneering dining and entertainment concepts to a brand new audience with the opening of FIVE Zurich. With revenge tourism taking centre stage in the global hospitality landscape, it is the perfect opportunity to build on our existing European clientele. ‘FIVERs’ come to us to indulge in the signature FIVE Vibe, which we’ve been celebrated for in Dubai – and which we will now introduce in Zurich.”
Earlier this year, FIVE Zurich’s general manager Markus Rapatz, explained the dining culture at the new hotel. He said: “FIVE Zurich will be very different from other hotels in the market. In Europe, it isn’t so common that you’d visit a hotel for its dining experiences or its lifestyle offerings. Obviously, FIVE Zurich will be called a hotel, but I see it more as an international lifestyle destination.
“What a guest would expect in FIVE Palm Jumeirah, they will find in FIVE Zurich also. We will adapt to the local market for sure, but the entertainment, service and standards – we’re bringing Dubai glamour to Zurich. “In addition to our nature, we will have an outdoor social pool where we will provide the same entertainment and fun as you’d find in Dubai. We also have an indoor pool area where we will take lessons from Dubai.“
