Carol Burnett to Be Honored With Lifetime Achievement Award at Gracie Awards

Carol Burnett has another lifetime achievement award headed her way.

The legendary performer, who currently stars on the Apple TV+ series Palm Royale, has been selected to receive the honor at the 49th annual Gracie Awards from the Alliance for Women in Media Foundation. The gala is set to take place at the Beverly Wilshire in Beverly Hills on May 21. Emmy winning recording artist Rachel Platten has also been booked to perform at the event. She rose to fame with her anthem “Fight Song” and is prepping to release a new album this fall.

“Carol Burnett is a true icon of television and entertainment, whose impact spans decades and resonates with audiences of all ages. Her groundbreaking work on The Carol Burnett Show set a standard for excellence in comedy and storytelling, earning her countless awards and accolades,” said AWMF president Becky Brooks. “We are truly privileged to recognize her outstanding contributions to the industry and celebrate her remarkable career at the Gracie Awards gala, where the talented Rachel Platten will also be inspiring us with a special performance with her unforgettable female anthems.”

Burnett has been honored with Emmys, Golden Globes, People’s Choice Awards, the Horatio Alger Award, an ACE Award, the Peabody and a Grammy. She’s been honored by the Kennedy Center, received the Mark Twain Prize for Humor and Presidential Medal of Freedom, was inducted into the Television Hall of Fame and has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. In 2016, she was feted with lifetime achievement honors at the SAG Awards, and three years later, the Golden Globes introduced the Carol Burnett Award for outstanding contributions to TV on or off the screen. Burnett was the first recipient.

The Gracie Awards – the largest fundraiser of the Alliance for Women in Media Foundation which advances women in media through educational programs and scholarships – announced the full list of winners at the end of March, a roster than includes Michelle Obama, Gayle King, Selena Gomez, Sydney Sweeney, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Nicole Kidman, Angela Yee, Glennon Doyle, Amy Sherman-Palladino, Bel Powley and The Kelly Clarkson Show. Burnett also saw her name mentioned in a winning category at this year’s Gracies in the TV variety special category for NBC’s Carol Burnett: 90 Years of Laughter + Love.
