CAF reveals the official match ball for the 2023 AFCON

Confederation of African Football (CAF) has revealed the official match ball for the 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON), set to be hosted in Ivory Coast.

This ball, created by Puma, pays tribute to Ivorian football icon Laurent Pokou.

Laurent Pokou holds the distinction of being Ivory Coast’s all-time leading scorer, having notched 71 goals in 83 national team appearances.

Additionally, he remains the sole player to have scored five goals in a single AFCON match, a feat he accomplished in 1970.

The ball’s design draws inspiration from the colors of African nations and incorporates vibrant elements of African culture and art.

The 2023 AFCON tournament is scheduled to take place from January 13 to February 11, 2024, marking Ivory Coast’s first time hosting the competition since 1984.
