Hugo Broos is aiming for another surprise for Bafana Bafana against Morocco in the eagerly awaited match on Tuesday night.
Morocco are one of the favourites to win the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, but the Bafana tactician is confident of pulling another surprise against the side they had beaten in one of the qualification fixtures last year.
Bafana will face Morocco in the Last 16 fixture of AFCON at the Laurent Pokou Stadium in San Pedro at 22:00.
“We are aware of the difficult task that’s waiting for us in the game against Morocco. Morocco is number one in Africa and have also been fantastic at the World Cup,” said Broos, speaking to journalists at a media briefing this week.
“Their squad is full of high-class players. It will be very difficult but on the other side, this Afcon is full of surprises as we saw in the last few weeks that big countries are already home. A few days ago, Cameroon were eliminated, so it’s possible in this AFCON,” the coach said.
“Secondly, we beat Morocco already in June in Johannesburg where we played a very good game at our best level and that means if we can do that maybe we can create another surprise in this AFCON by eliminating this big team,” added the Belgian.
In other Bafana news, Khuliso Mudau and Mothobi Mvala have been expected to undergo late fitness tests to confirm their readiness for the match.
