The UAE is proud not just about how high its buildings are, but because of the culture of tolerance it has created and propagated among residents and citizens, said Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the International Institute for Tolerance, at a special ceremony that brought the curtains down on the two-day World Tolerance Summit (WTS) on Thursday.
Thanking and lauding all participants, leaders of different faiths and countries, Sheikh Nahyan said the summit has become a global platform to know each other and start a dialogue so we can talk on common grounds and work to achieve prosperity. “We are sure that we will benefit from your experience in serving the world. Coming together this way sends out a strong message to the world that we have a duty and responsibility to build relationships and partnerships across borders. Since the UAE has always been keen to collaborate in humanitarian efforts to encourage peace and harmony, the summit is a natural extension to what the UAE is already doing.”
He talked about how meaningful collaborations such as the WTS can help build a safe world for our future generations. “We are really proud of this path of the UAE and what it represents as it is a perfect example of a tolerant society. Tolerance in the UAE gives a message of peace and is an invitation to understand positive relationships among civilisations.”
