BREAKING: Borussia Dortmund agree to let Otto Addo take over as Ghana coach

German giants Borussia Dortmund have given Otto Addo the greenlight to take over as Ghana coach while working as youth development coach of the club.

The former Black Stars player became the Football Association’s ideal candidate for the job following the sacking of Milovan Rajevac, and his outstanding display in the World Cup playoff against Nigeria made it difficult to go past him in search of a coach.

However, there was a standstill between the Ghana Football Association and Borussia Dortmund which had to be settled before he is announced permanent coach.

The 46-year-old has confirmed Dortmund has agreed to allow him manage the senior national team of Ghana.

“I got permission from Dortmund. Under certain conditions, it works out that I can do the international game phases in June, September and also the World Cup,” Addo said in a podcast of Hamburger Abendblatt.

The country’s football federation is set to hand the ex-Dortmund player a deal that will see him lead the Black Stars in the FACON 2023 qualifiers as well as the FIFA World Cup in Qatar. He will also be in charge of the team if Ghana qualifies for the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.

Otto Addo was in charge of the team in the games against the Super Eagles of Nigeria as Ghana qualified for the World Cup.
