  • Pitso Mosimane has been heavily linked with a move to Kaizer Chiefs
  • The club’s boss, Bobby Motaung, has disclosed why they have yet to contact the tactician
  • Chiefs have continued to engage in friendly tournaments while the PSL is on break

Kaizer Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung has shared the club’s plans for the second stanza of the season as the PSL is on break due to the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

The club’s chief has confirmed that contrary to reports in the media, they are yet to contact out-of-job manager Pitso Mosimane.

News in the media has linked the former Al Wahda of UAE tactician with AmaKhosi, who are said to be in search of a permanent manager.

Midfielder Edmilson Dove is on duty with the Mozambican national team at the ongoing continental showpiece in the Ivory Coast.

Chiefs have continued to engage in friendly matches and tournaments in a bid to get their players in shape.

In a chat with Sunday World, Motaung stated that there are no plans to replace interim coach Cavin Johnson.

He said:

“The coach (Johnson) is still continuing with his job. We have not spoken to any other coach.

“About coach Pitso, it was shocking to read about the things we do not know in the media. We have never engaged Pitso, we never interviewed Pitso. Not even a proposal was sent to him. We were surprised to read that Pitso rejected our offer,” he said.

“We are trying to stabilise the team at the moment. Issues of the coach will be discussed later. If you check, the momentum at the team is good. We do not want to disturb that.”

Ngcobo hails Cavin Johnson

Sports Brief earlier reported that Kaizer Chiefs star Nkosingiphile Ngcobo explained how Cavin Johnson gets the best out of him and his teammates since the South African took over.

Johnson replaced Molefi Ntseki as the first team manager on an interim basis after the latter parted ways with the AmaKhosi in October last year.

The former Al Ahly assistant coach has been in charge of the team during seven games in the current Premier Soccer League campaign, winning four.
