South Africa Players Celebrate Victory – AFCON 2023
On Tuesday, South Africa followed Ivory Coast’s path of presenting big AFCON 2023 surprises as the Bafana Bafana succeded in eliminating the 2022 FIFA World Cup semi-finalists Morocco in the AFCON 2023 Round of the Last 16.
Orlando Pirates striker Evidence Makgopa gave South Africa the lead at 57:00 and Teboho Mokoena secured the precious victory in the fifth minute of added time.
For Morocco, Achraf Hakimi missed a late penalty and Sofyan Amrabat received a red card by the end of the game.
With the elimination of Morocco, seven of the top-10-rankest teams were knocked out of the tournament in the Round of the Last 16 and the group stage. They are Morocco (1), Senegal (2), Tunisia (3), Algeria (4), Egypt (5), Cameroon (7), and Burkina Faso (10).
